Bollywood Movies Diwali Clashes During The Last 10 Years

Bollywood Movies Diwali Clashes During The Last 10 Years since 1998:
In Bollywood film industry there are some unusual rules, Like Eid is Salman Khan's big day, Diwali is big day for SRK, and Aamir Khan uses the Christmas and New Year period for his releases.
Here we are going to discous the maga stars clashes during the Diwali realeases during last 5 years. Diwali is boom time for a lot of businesses, and for Bollywood too, Diwali means big bucks. It's that time of the year when the biggest names in filmdom release their movies. It's all planned months in advance. The dates are announced and sometimes even theatres are blocked. And ofcourse it will come to see on new year period too, when Aamir Khan with 'Talaash' Akshay Kumar with 'Kheladi 786' and Salman Khan with 'Dabangg 2' neck to neck compete one another.
Every year, two or more films release during Diwali,  not just Diwali, otherwise, too, there have been big clashes with releases on the same date. Most of the time, if both films are good, both will work well. This Diwali a great war is going on between Yash Raj's film Jab Tak Hai Jaan Starred Shah Rukh Khan, Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma and Ajay Devgn's Son of Sardar, stared Ajay Devgan, Sonakshi Senha, Sunjy Dutt and Salman Khan as guest. Both the films done well on opening.
The Diwali release war is not new. Let's take a look at some of the blasts from the past at the theaters during Diwali.

2012: Jab Tak Hai Jaan and Son of Sardar

A day after the much-awaited Bollywood clash, it is still not clear who the box-office hero is — Yash Chopra’s dashing army officer or Ajay Devgn’s affable sardarji. At the time of going to press, JTHJ, which released across 2,500 screens raked in over Rs. 15.23 cr, while SOS playing on 2,000 screens, earned over Rs. 10.72 cr. At multiplexes, JTHJ’s business is outstanding, while at single screens and mass centres the business of SOS is mindblowing.

2011:  RA.One,  Tell Me O Kkhuda and Damadamm

Only Shah Rukh Khan's RA.One worked moderately well. Tell Me O Kkhuda and Damadamm losers

2010: Golmaal 3 and Action Replayy
This Diwali King Khan does not present. It was the time for Ajay Devgan. Akshay Kumar's Action Replayy was the loser. Golmaal 3 was the bigger hit. The opening weekend net collection for Golmaal 3 was a high Rs 33.5 crore.

2009: All The Best, Main Aur Mrs Khanna and Blue
Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar and Ajay Devgn all had Diwali releases that year. Ajay Devgn's All the Best was the clear winner. It was rated the ninth highest grosser of 2009. Salman Khan's Main Aur Mrs Khanna was declared a dud in its first weekend.  Blue was made on a very high budget, but sank into the deep blue waters.

2008: Fashion, Golmaal Returns, Roadside Romeo and Heroes
Madhur Bhandarkar's Fashion and Rohit Shetty's Golmaal Returns battled it out for eyeballs in 2008.  Both films started well. The collections of Golmaal Returns were as high as Rs 72 crore in the first week which was a huge record. Fashion earned Rs 33 crore in its first week worldwide.

2007: Saawariya and Om Shanti Om
In 2007, SRK released his own production, the much hyped Om Shanti Om, alongside Sanjay Bhansali's Saawariya, which launched two star kids, Ranbir Kapoor and Sonam Kapoor. Once again SRK was a clear winner. Saawariya vanished without a trace. Om Shanti Om opened in 878 cinemas and grossed a record-setting Rs 65.65 crore in its two weeks in India.

2006: Don, Jaan-E-Mann
This time it was the clash of the Khans: Shah Rukh vs Salman Khan. SRK's Don was directed by Farhan Akhtar. The Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar starer Jaan-E-Mann was directed by Shirish Kunder. Don was the winner. It became the fifth highest grossing film in India till then, with revenues of Rs 51 crore only from its domestic market. Jaan-E-Mann released in 1200 screens worldwide but made just Rs 35 crore gross at the box office and was declared a flop.

2005: Kyon Ki, Garam Masala
In 2005, Salman Khan tried his luck in a Diwali release with Kyon Ki. The other release at the same time was the Akshay Kumar and John Abraham starer Garam Masala.  Kyon Ki failed and Garam Masala turned out to be a hit grossing Rs 52.31 crore in its full theatrical run.

2004: Veer Zaara, Aitraaz
In 2004, it was Shah Rukh Khan again, this time pitted against Khiladi Kumar. The Yash Chopra directed Veer Zaara and Abbas Mustan's Aitraaz, produced by Subhash Ghai, went head to head. Veer Zaara opened better than Aitraaz.Veer Zaara grossed Rs 17 crores in its first week and was the highest grosser of 2004. Aitraaz was an average performer at the box office.

2000: Mohabbatein, Mission Kashmir
Shah Rukh Khan's Mohabbatein and Hritik Roshan's Mission Kashmir released on the same day. Both films had established producers: Yash Chopra and Vidhu Vinod Chopra respectively. Mohabbatein performed much better because it was a light film as compared to Mission Kashmir. During festival time people prefer watching light films. Mohabbatein opened well, pulling in Rs 54.25 crore gross for the year and was termed a hit. The gross collection of Mission Kashmir in the same year was Rs 37.25 crore and it was considered a semi-hit.

1998: Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan
In the pre-multiplex age way back in 1998, Karan Johar released his first film Kuch Kuch Hota Hai with stars Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol and Rani Mukherji. On the same day, David Dhawan released his comedy film Bade Miyan Chote Miyan starring Amitabh Bachchan and Govinda. Both films turned out to be huge hits. Clearly there was enough room for two films to do good business. Whether the single screen exhibitor chose KKHH or BMCM, they made huge profits. Kuch Kuch Hota Hai was the highest grosser of 1998, earning Rs 77 crore gross in India and was declared a blockbuster. Bade Miyan Chote Miyan collected Rs 35 crore gross and was declared a hit.
